Thank you to all who responded to our web survey! If you would like us to respond to your suggestions or if
you have specific questions, please provide your email address or call us at (906) 774-6020.
Suggestion: Lower APR on credit cards to match other credit unions in area since we both use the same
bank.
Response: The Visa logo may be the same on both cards, but each credit union uses its own funds and
independently sets it's own interest rates.
Suggestion: Why is there a charge for using the ATM more than six times a month?
Response: It costs the credit union about $50,000 per year to have an ATM, excluding costs
for manpower and overhead. We suggest you withdraw more money at each visit so you
don't need as many withdrawals each month. You may also be able to receive cash back
at a merchant when purchasing an item with your ATM/Debit card.
Suggestion: Offer the ability to view member checks online.
Response: This may be available later on, but right now it is cost-prohibitive.
Suggestion: Time-out is too short, requiring another login to home-banking. Allow our computer to
remember our login and password. Setup check page to not print all lines and make them
fit on a 8.5x11 page.
Response: The time-out period used to be longer but our federal examiners mandated the shorter period.
We believe you have to configure your computer to remember your password and login.
Try Tools, Internet Options, Content, Auto-complete, etc. To limit printing lines and help
fit them on a single sheet, try highlighting just the lines you want to print.
Or print out a statement.
Suggestion: Staff the drive-up with more people during lunch periods.
Response: We try.
Suggestion: Offer internet bill pay.
Response: Cost prohibitive at this time. Studies show the trend is paying bills at each biller's own
website using a credit card in order to receive "perks". Most recurring bills can also be
set up for automatic withdrawal from your credit union account through ACH. Call Lynn
at (906) 774-6020.
Suggestion: Compare savings rates with other financial institutions in the area and bump up
rates to attract new members and keep customers.
Response: We do a monthly survey of all other financial institutions in our area. Our passbook
dividend rate is the highest of any. Our share certificate rates are less than others
because our federal examiners would frown on us taking in more deposits than we
can loan out. In other words, our loan-to-deposits ratio would not be in line with
their standards.
Suggestion: Require deposit slips. Don't charge for extra deposit slips. Don't require all joint owners
to sign deposited items.
Response: We believe most members would prefer not to be required to complete a deposit slip
each time. There is also a security issue by providing blank deposit slips at the counter.
We apologize if someone here told you there is a 25 cent charge per deposit slip as that
is not true. We do not always require all joint owners to sign deposited items - it depends
on the type of check and the circumstances. Government checks, insurance checks, and
certain trust checks may require all parties to endorse the check. Please call Laura at
(906) 774-6020 for clarification.
Suggestion: In home-banking, increase the number of transfers allowed from account.
Response: Federal Regulation "D" limits the number of transfers from your savings account to six per
month. You may have an unlimited number of transfers from your checking account.
Suggestion: Allow members to change passwords on debit cards and accept check deposits at the ATM.
Response: For security reasons, our debit card issuer generates random passwords. The only one
who ever sees your password is you. If someone "found" your card and we offered the
ability to change passwords, you can see the problem! Because we don't accept deposits
at our ATM, we installed a night deposit box adjacent to the ATM where you can make
your deposits.
